Demo Effects

These effects were intended to experiment with 3D, OpenGL, C++ and in particular - D. The first effects I made were in C++, then I switched to D. The list below is unordered, both chronologically and language wise. Click on images to download. On your own risk! They may contain horrible bugs that do horrible things. :) (pending - proper disclaimer.)

Special notice. Some of the demos do not have an escape (you can often press ESC to escape the demo) so you need to shut them down forcefully via windows task manager. Also, some effects startup with a black screen but have multiple subeffects - selectable by numeric keys.

edit: I got dugg. Due to the fact that this page got dugg by diggers on Digg.com, I've been requested by some readers to post source code. The Digg article claims that most effects are in C++ and that the source code is included. Neither are true. But thanks anyway for posting/digging me. It was a nice gesture. I'll see if I can post at least some of the code, since I've used D OpenGL bindings and a vector module, both made by D community members. Even if I modified them a bit, I can't take credit.

screenshot 4 - This effect, and the next few is just a simple particle effect. The particles are simple dots, not shapes with textures.

screenshot 18 - Similar to #28, the effect, while simple to make, creates some beautiful color variations.
screenshot 19 - This one doesn't do much, nevertheless I like the "fiber" look it has. The apperance of a handfull of optical fibers waving in the air.

screenshot 24 - Interference pattern. The interesting thing here is the moire-like patterns that form as the effect animates - as well as the distortion that travels through the field.

screenshot 28 - This effect was simple to make, but the result is pretty cool. It can't really be seen on the thumpnail though.
screenshot 29 - I made a lot of tori and this one I'm particular happy about.

screenshot 31 (c++) - A nice effect of motion on a superthin surface.

screenshot 36 (c++) - While very simple, there's something about bowl-ish construction. :)

38 - Colors, colors, colors, and more colors. This one has some nice rippling of the surface, the "ends" of the torus aren't joined well though.

40 - A really cool tori I think, since it looks very organic. :) Below are variations.
